How the compression works
Most PDFs uploaded to exam forms are scans — each page is already a photo. The tool renders every page, then re-saves it as a JPEG at the highest quality that still fits your target, trying smaller page resolutions only if needed. Text in the result is not selectable, which is fine for certificates and scans. If your PDF is already smaller than the target, it is left unchanged.
Getting documents right for online forms
- Check the exact limit first. Portals state the format (PDF or JPG) and a maximum size such as 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB. A file even 1 KB over is rejected.
- Scan at 150–200 DPI. That is sharp enough to read and keeps files small. 600 DPI scans only make files bigger.
- Upload only the pages asked for. Remove blank or extra pages with Organise PDF before compressing.
- Password-protected PDFs (for example e-Aadhaar or bank statements) must be opened and saved without a password before most portals — and these tools — can use them.
- Name files clearly, e.g.
10th_marksheet.pdf, and open the final file once to check every page is readable.
