Why Convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is a lossless format — it preserves every pixel perfectly and supports transparency. However, PNG files are significantly larger than JPEG for photographs. A typical exam photo saved as PNG can be 500 KB–2 MB, while the same photo as JPEG at 85% quality is typically under 100 KB.
Indian exam portals (UPSC, SSC, IBPS, NTA, RRB) almost exclusively accept JPEG/JPG format. If your photo is a PNG, you'll need to convert it before you can upload it to most application forms.
What about transparency?
JPEG does not support transparent pixels. If your PNG has a transparent background (common for logos, screenshots and edited photos), the converter fills the transparent areas with your chosen background colour. For exam photos, white is always the correct choice.

Why convert PNG to JPG?

What happens to transparent areas in my PNG?
JPEG doesn't support transparency. The tool fills transparent pixels with your chosen background colour (white by default). White is the correct choice for exam photos and ID documents.

Does conversion lose quality?
